Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Eugene Kim ("we", "us") about using Origin Path. Please read them; they're short. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

The short version

You must be 13 or older. If you're under 18, make sure a parent or guardian knows you're using Origin Path.
What you write belongs to you. Keep it respectful and legal.
"Read my story" is written by AI. It's not advice, and it never predicts admissions results.
Origin Path is new and free right now: it may change, and it's provided as-is.
You can download your story or delete your account any time.

1. Who can use Origin Path

You must be 13 or older. If you're under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian knows you're using Origin Path and has read these terms with you. Use an email address you'll keep; school accounts often disappear after graduation.

2. Your account

Keep access to your email safe: anyone who can read your email can sign in to your account. Sign out when you use a shared computer. If you think someone else has used your account, sign in and check it, or email us.

3. Your content

Everything you write in Origin Path (activities, moments, themes) is yours. You give us permission to store it and process it only to run Origin Path for you, including sending it to our AI provider when you use "Read my story". We don't use it for anything else, and we never sell it.

4. Acceptable use

Please don't use Origin Path to:

write about other people in ways that share their private information or harass them,
post anything illegal, or anything that sexualizes minors,
try to get into someone else's account, get around our security, or overload the service,
copy or scrape the service automatically, or
use "Read my story" to try to make the AI produce harmful content.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, and we'll tell you why when we can.

5. "Read my story" and AI

Readings are written by AI (provided by Anthropic) from your own moments. They can be wrong or miss things; you decide what fits your story.
A reading is not advice (college, academic, career, medical or mental-health advice) and is never a prediction of admissions results, a score, a rating or a ranking.
Origin Path is not a counseling or crisis service. If you're struggling, talk to a trusted adult or call or text 988 (in the US). If you're in danger, call 911.
Readings are limited to 3 a day. "Read my story" is currently turned off.

6. A new service, provided as-is

Origin Path is new and free right now. Features may change or be removed. We work hard to keep what you write safe, and you can download it any time, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or unexpected losses, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you've paid us in the last 12 months.

7. Downloading and deleting

You can download your story for free at any time (Profile → Your data). You can delete your account at any time (Profile → Your data → Delete my account); after you confirm with a code sent to your email, your account and everything in it are deleted immediately. The Privacy Policy explains the few things that remain for a short time (backups for up to about 10 days, and a deletion record with your account's random id for 8 days).

We may close accounts that break these terms. If we ever shut Origin Path down, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice so you can download your story.

8. Changes to these terms

If we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Origin Path after that, the new terms apply.

9. The legal part

These terms don't take away any rights you have under the law where you live. If any part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
